A Guide to Living in Northfields

The west London suburb of Northfields is one of those secret places which most Londoners have trouble locating. It is nine miles from central London in the borough of Ealing with Hanwell, West Ealing and Ealing to the north, Acton to the east, Brentford to the south and Southall to the west, on the Heathrow branch of the Piccadilly line, and the area has a village community feel.

Northfields benefits from excellent transport links in and out of London. Northfields tube station is in Travelcard Zone 3 and is served by the Piccadilly Line. This service provides direct links into London and Heathrow Airport. Ealing Broadway tube station is currently served by the Central and District lines and will soon be served by the new Crossrail service.

If you prefer to travel by road, Northfields has easy access to the M25 and M4 meaning you can easily get into London or down to the south coast. Northfields also offers a good bus service taking you in the direction of Ealing, Brentford, Chiswick, Hanwell, and beyond.

Out and About in Northfields

Northfields boasts two large green spaces, Lammas Park and Walpole Park. Lammas Park is a 25-acre park which is very popular with runners, walkers and those looking to relax. Waypole Park is just across the road from Lammas Park. It has a play area for young children and hosts the Ealing Summer Festival.

For a spot of retail therapy, Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre is close by and is home to most high street chain shops as well as a few top fashion outlets, with brands including Boots, Monsoon, and H&M.

Northfields Property

Pleasant leafy streets of terraced, semi-detached, and detached houses give the area a suburban feel. Toward Ealing Broadway, there are many older, grand looking Victorian houses. Ealing’s numerous green spaces mean lots of locals can find homes overlooking parks. Flats on the roads surrounding Ealing Common are particularly desirable. For apartment living, there are numerous period conversions and in recent years some high-rise contemporary developments have offered upmarket flats such as The Courtyard and Filmworks.
