A leading surveying practice established in 1995 as part of the
Gibbs Gillespie group, Gibbs Gillespie Chartered Surveyors offers a comprehensive range of
both residential and commercial valuation and surveying services to the public and private sector.

Our survey and valuation work is undertaken within the strict guidelines set down
by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) giving you added peace of mind.

For home buyers we offer two types of residential surveys; a RICS Home Buyer Survey and a RICS Home Condition Report. However, due to a conflict of interest we do not survey any properties sold by Gibbs Gillespie estate agents.

Other services in brief include:

  • Matrimonial valuations
  • Commercial valuations
  • Probate valuations
  • Inheritance Tax valuations
  • Expert witness reports

Buying a property is the single, biggest purchase you’re likely to make so it makes sense to get a surveying expert to check its true condition first. Not all faults are visible to the untrained eye. Are there other, less obvious structural problems? Is there evidence of wet rot? Has there been any subsidence? Do parts of the roof need replacing?

Consulting our fully qualified Chartered Surveyors will give you peace of mind that the property you’re buying is in sound condition or prevent you from making an expensive mistake that could eventually cost you thousands, before you’re legally committed to the purchase.

As a home buyer, we offer two main types of surveys:

Home Buyer Survey

Ideal for more conventional residential property built within the past 100 years. It provides extensive information about the condition of the property and is ideal if you are buying or selling a house, flat or bungalow, built from common building materials and in reasonable condition.

The RICS Home Buyer Survey gives you clear ‘traffic light’ ratings showing the condition of the property, advice for your legal advisors and details of urgent defects, plus a separate market valuation and insurance reinstatement costs, and advice on defects that may affect the value of the property.

Home Condition Report
Home Condition Reports are suited to older properties, or properties which have undergone major extension or alteration. We also advise you to proceed with a Building Survey if you plan on undertaking a large building project.

The RICS Home Condition Report gives you a comprehensive structural survey report tailored to suit your property, highlighting defects, repairs and maintenance options.
