Overall Winner 2011 - UK's Best Letting Agent
Gibbs Gillespie has been voted the overall Letting Agent of the Year winner for 2011 in the prestigious Landlord & Letting Awards.
The Landlord and Letting Awards are the premier nationwide private rented sector awards in the UK. Trophies were presented by TV presenter and property investor Melissa Porter at a glamorous awards ceremony in the Birmingham NEC in November.
Paul Gillespie says: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this Award. The competition was really tough, so this accolade really is testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone at Gibbs Gillespie. This achievement has really spurred us on and we will continue to build on our expertise and deliver high quality levels of service across the private rented sector.”
The judges report said: "The Landlord & Letting Awards are the premier nationwide private rented sector awards in the UK, and it's great to be able to recognise and reward the best in the industry. This year's response was phenomenal, with over 550 entries received, so Gibbs Gillespie has done brilliantly to win."
Winner 2009, 2011 - UK's Best Lettings Agency (Regional Chain) & Independent Lettings Agency of the Year
2011 has been a fantastic year for Gibbs Gillespie Lettings and we are now delighted to announce that we have been crowned Independent Lettings Agency of the Year at The Negotiator Awards 2011, a title we retain from 2009.
The Negotiator Awards aim to idenitfy, reward and celebrate industry excellence, entrepreneurialism, innovation and business acumen within the estate agency sector. Hosted by the leading residential agency magazine at The Hilton, Park Lane, it has now firmly established itself as one of the annual highlights of the residential agency calendar.
Paul Gillespie said: "2011 has already been a great year for us, and to win such a prestigious award is a wonderful achievement and one that every one of our people can be proud of. The Negotiator Annual Awards invited nominations from across the UK with each nominee required to submit written answers to a series of questions. The finalists were then judged by a prestigious panel of senior figures from the industry, including Bill McClintock the CEO of the Property Ombudsman service.

On 28 October 2011 Gibbs Gillespie dominated the 2011 UK Property Awards (Bloomberg & Google) gaining four awards at the prestigious gala event. Held in London at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the hotly contested awards celebrates best practice in the industry and showcases the best agencies based on categories such as innovation, promotion and marketing. It also rewards hardworking professionals who have gone the extra mile in pursuit of service, ethics and results.
Founding Partner of Gibbs Gillespie, Paul Gillespie said the business was honoured to have received such high recognition amongst its peers.
"These wins reflect our commitment to delivering results for our customers and focus on setting new industry standards in innovation, performance and customer service and we're proud to be recognised as industry leaders in these areas. It's also testament to the hard work and dedication of individual offices and staff, who were also all honoured in last night's awards."
Winner 2011 - Best Newcomer Firm in Mortgage Brokerage of the Year Awards
The Mortgage and Insurance Bureau (TMIB) has been named Best Newcomer Firm of the Year at the Mortgage Intelligence Annual Mortgage Awards held at the Celtic Manor in Cardiff.
Mark Braisher, General Manager of TMIB, a fully owned subsidiary of Gibbs Gillespie, said,
"The culture of Gibbs Gillespie drives us to give 6 star service and it is that dedication by our brokers that have translated into increased market share and a high conversion of mortgage applications."
Mr Braisher said despite softening across most markets, TMIB had assembled a great team of brokers and continued to write a record number of mortgages.
Paul Gillespie said demand for The Mortgage and Insurance Bureau's mortgages had been extremely popular with clients wanting to transact property.
"Our mortgage brokerage business is of vital importance as part of our service offering. Ensuring that our customers obtain the best mortgage possible in a timely, no fuss manner is key. So for The Mortgage and Insurance Bureau to have been awarded Best Newcomer is one of our proudest moments. I believe if you have a full-service offering it must be the best and this indicated to me that we were on track to deliver our customers the very best in mortgages."
Mr Gillespie adds, "It makes buying a home that little bit easier when your broker understands property at the speed at which financial decisions sometimes need to be made."
The black tie event was attended by over 200 representatives from the banking and finance industry. This award is one of the highest accolades offered to a brokerage business in the mortgage industry. The key criteria for judging the award centred around the overall business perspective, loan volumes, conversion rates and service.
Winner 2011 - Best South East Lettings Agency (Small Size)
Gibbs Gillespie offers a full range of lettings and property management services concentrating on providing best in class service to their clients. Its focus on staff training and building customer relationships has seen it improve its income figures and market share in a very competitive period. This has been helped by the investment in technology and online solutions as by using social media, e-newsletters and working on their database they are retaining clients and growing market share. This also includes moving the majority of business to rent-collect and management services and away from let-only tenant find - a bold move in a very competitive market. The training spend per head shows the value the directors place on development and this has had a direct effect on staff retention. Winner 2011 - Best Customer Service
The fact that the last year has been the most profitable ever for the lettings department at Gibbs Gillespie is an affirmation of its strong customer service standards. After a complete review of the internal systems and processes, customer care has been integrated into performance management alongside determined focus on CRM and applicant qualification. A new database to target lost landlords has been successful and a tenancy management department was set up solely for renewals. A comprehensive monthly newsletter aids communication between the offices, landlords and tenants with the added benefit of highlighting the team's local and legislative knowledge. Another nice touch is regular investment bulletins sent to landlords with available sales properties complete with potential rental yields. Its opening hours are longer than competitors meaning it enjoys the greatest market share from commuter footfall enquiries. Training and communication internally is also impressive. Silver Award 2011 - Best Training & Development
Gibbs Gillespie demonstrates an excellent approach to its training. Alongside external training consultants, it has a developed a lettings development programme which can be adapted for all grades and roles and the spend per head on development is impressive. All managers have a two hour coaching session with their individual mentor on a monthly basis to discuss their individual development plan and are also required to undergo industry and bespoke skills sessions. Two awards are given out per quarter; one based on direct customer feedback and one based on personal development in professional qualifications, voluntary work and CSR or studies undertaken in own time which will benefit the business. The dedication to a comprehensive but enjoyable training programme is a definable difference that has enabled Gibbs Gillespie's lettings department to implement a strategy of moving away from a lettings-only business to a property management business. We are extremely proud to have won two awards at the recent 2010 Guild of Professional Estate Agents Annual Conference held at the Park Lane Hotel in Piccadilly, London. Gibbs Gillespie received an award for Best in Class Estate Agent for the London region and the top National Estate Agency of the Year award for UK's Best Independent Estate Agency.
Gibbs Gillespie was chosen by an independent panel after completing a detailed questionnaire covering numerous aspects of its operation including staff training and professionalism, online strategies, and also recent innovations in its property marketing.

2009 saw Gibbs Gillespie receive the ultimate industry accolade by being crowned as the Overall Winner at The Sunday Times Estate Agency of the Year Awards which is widely recognised as the most important event in the industry calendar. Gibbs Gillespie Estate Agents have twice won a highly prestigious award at the world's largest relocation company, Cartus Mobility's annual dinner and awards ceremony in London. The National Award is a contest between leading independent estate agents up and down the country who have been selected in their area as being the 'best of the best'. Outstanding customer service, contributions to the estate agency profession, innovation and community service were amongst the criteria for success in winning these National Awards. Gibbs Gillespie won the inaugural Cartus Cup in 2005 and won the Masters Cup in 2007.
Winner 1998 - Best Independent Residential Sales Office for the London Area
1998 saw Gibbs Gillespie win its first prestigious award at the National Estate Agency of the Year Awards, sponsored by the Nationwide Building Society, based on the results of 18,500 questionnaires from customers across the UK who were asked to award marks for a range of factors from quality of service to property knowledge. This was combined with a 'mystery shopping' exercise which was carried out on the 52 finalists. These awards seeked to recognise those estate agents who offer their clients the best possible standards of service together with the ability to solve any problems efficiently and professionally.
